Pantarhei Devices is a spinn-off from Pantarhei Bioscience since 2005, when was decided to establish a new company to develop the business opportunity of a new medical device, the Mermaid. The Mermaid is a device that provides women the opportunity to prepare a vaginal self-sample at home. The quality of the sample has been demonstrated to be appropriate for the diagnosis of several vaginal viral and bacterial infections like Human Pappiloma Virus and Chlamydia. In laboratory many kind of tests can be conducted with the sample, provided by the Mermaid, mainly in the field of Sexual Transmitted Infections (STI's) and Sexual Transmitted Diseases (STD's).
Pantarhei Devices' mission is to contribute to women's vaginal and gynaecological health. It provides a healthcare service to the users of the device, which has been patented. The uniqueness of the device, plus the actual society, government and media interest for STI's and preventive self-service healthcare, provides a great business opportunity.
